1937
The SP Elbow was designed in 1937 by Otto Sparre-Petersen, an engineer and chief mechanic, who sought to develop a fixture focused on hygiene and accessibility.
When Copenhagen’s Rigshospital developed its new 16-storey central complex in 1965, 15.000 SP Elbow fixtures were installed, many of which are still in use today. The success of this extensive implementation led to the fixture being adopted across up to 70% of the Danish hospital sector, where many remain in operation to this day.
