Reference Project
Located on a historic street in Sóller, Mallorca, Can Batlet is a 19th-century townhouse that has been brought back to life through a careful, four-year restoration led by Durietz Design & Development.
From the beginning, the project has been driven by a respect for the original building structure. Existing wooden beams, stone walls and floors have been preserved wherever possible, while new additions have been designed to fit quietly into the existing framework. Local materials such as lime plaster, terracotta and reclaimed wood are used to maintain a sense of continuity throughout the building.
The interior palette balances earthy materials with distinct accents. While natural stone, timber and lime render form the base, deep red and muted green tones are introduced through joinery, textiles and wall treatments. In selected areas, patterned tiles add variation and texture, referencing local traditions without feeling decorative. The result is layered but restrained — expressive in parts, but always grounded in the building’s architectural rhythm.
Christiansborg faucets are used in all bathrooms and kitchens. The simple design and solid Brass construction reflect the project's overall focus on materiality and durability. The same approach is continued outdoors, where an outdoor shower is installed by the pool area. Mounted against a natural stone wall, it blends naturally into the garden's subdued look while adding practicality during the warmer months.
