In a classic thatched house in the Danish summer countryside, photographer Philip Messmann and stylist Sophia Roe have created a simple and aesthetic summer home with an eye for materials and timeless details. The house, which exudes calm and balance, is characterized by the couple's keen eye for composition, form and texture.
The interior draws on vintage finds, raw woods, ceramics and a few selected design objects that together create a relaxed and understated atmosphere. The palette is kept in muted tones of white, nature and metal, where everything superfluous is cut out and each item is allowed to stand in its own right.
The Christiansborg luminaires in Nickel are a natural part of the whole. Originally developed in 1918 for the restoration of Christiansborg Palace, the series continues a Danish design heritage where function and aesthetics go hand in hand. The classic design language and discreet expression of the fittings support the materiality and architecture of the house without dominating the room. Used in both the kitchen and bathroom, they tie the rooms together with a consistent, calm approach to function and craftsmanship.
