Situated in the transition between the lively Danish coastline, adorned with sand dunes and the gentle waves of the Kattegat, and the mild vegetation of the modest Danish forest, this four-part cottage complex wedges itself between the existing vegetation.
Carefully placed among deciduous and pine trees, Pihlmann Architects and Office Kim Lenschow have carefully integrated the four houses into the landscape to create a natural interplay between them and to preserve the natural setting. The houses seem to float above the sandy, green soil, leaving the environment below almost untouched.
Both externally and internally, the houses embrace a deliberate "low-tech architecture." With its exposed location, the summer retreat is designed to withstand the harsh climate it will endure over the years, using a modest palette of robust materials that honor the passage of time and honest craftsmanship.
Adorned with Cross-Handle in Burnished Brass inside and outside the house, the raw and authentic architecture is complemented by the series' inherent nostalgia and craftsmanship.
